Nain Amyn

Nain Amyn is the General Manager and the strong administrative arm of SAWITRI. In addition to this key function, she is also the in-house make-up artist and wardrobe manager.

Armed with a degree in Interior Design from the acclaimed Sophia College in Bombay, Nain has worked extensively decorating and refurbishing in the elite neighbourhoods and star homes of the famed land of  Bollywood. A charming, vivacious young woman with a sharp business sense, Nain gave up her exciting career and prosperous business to marry and move to Pakistan, where she quickly occupied herself managing a beauty salon.

Prior to immigrating to Canada, Nain lived in Saudi Arabia and Dubai where she worked as a teaching assistant for children with special needs and ESL groups. She continues to work with autistic children and ESL groups and volunteers in the Ismaili community, teaching English to Afghani children.

As design and colour come naturally to Nain, she also continues to work as a henna artist, bridal make-up artist as well as chief make-up artist for many South Asian films produced in Toronto. Married to Amyn Merchant and the mother of a teenage son, Nain has a deep passion for the visual arts and her work with festivals like MOSAIC and organizations enables her to contribute to the arts community in many different ways.
